The NHL has continued to grow and enjoys great popularity to this day. It currently has 31 teams: 24 in the United States and 7 in Canada. The Stanley Cup, the oldest professional sports trophy in North America, is awarded annually to the champion of the league playoffs at the end of each season.

The 2023-2024 NHL season marks the 107th year of the National Hockey League. It began on October 10, 2023 and will conclude on April 18, 2024. At the end of the regular season, the eight teams with the best record in each conference will advance to the Stanley Cup playoffs. Teams will be seeded according to their position in the standings, with the top two in each conference being seeded 1 and 2, the next highest in record being seeded 3 and 4, and so on.
